Jude Shalitha Perera is a research Fellow in the University of Melbourne. His expertise is primarily in the structural design of rockfall protection barriers and extreme loading on structures.

He is a specialist on robotics, artificial intelligence, deep learning, smart vision, and Internet of Things applications in the building and construction industry.
In 2015, he graduated from the University of Moratuwa with a BSc in science. He completed his PhD in 2020 at the University of Melbourne under the supervision of Prof Nelson Lam. His PhD research topic allowed him to collaborate closely with the Hong Kong Geotechnical Department (HK GEO), and he created an optimised rockfall protection barrier with a layer of gabion cushion, which HK GEO incorporated into technical notes.
